Privacy Policy for Sign & Symbol Identifer

Sign & Symbol Identifer (the "App") is developed by Syahrul Ahmad Saputra ("we," "our," or "us"). This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the App.

App Purpose

The App helps users scan signs, symbols, labels, warning marks, public icons, road signs, packaging marks, technical symbols, and similar visual markings. The App uses AI-assisted image analysis to provide educational explanations, including likely symbol name, category, meaning, reading guidance, context, confidence, readability, image quality, and useful notes.

Photos and AI Processing

When you capture or upload a photo for analysis, the photo is sent securely over HTTPS to our third-party AI service provider, OpenRouter (OpenRouter, Inc.), only to generate the requested sign or symbol report. OpenRouter routes the request to an AI vision model — currently Google Gemini, with OpenAI models as a fallback — which analyzes the image and returns the report text shown in the App.

The only data shared with the AI service is:

• The photo you choose to capture or upload for analysis, resized and compressed before sending
• A fixed, app-defined instruction prompt describing the requested report format

No name, email address, account identifier, device identifier, location, or advertising identifier is sent with the request.

Photos sent for analysis are processed transiently to generate the report and are not stored on servers we operate. We do not use submitted photos for advertising or to train AI models. The AI providers may retain request data temporarily, typically up to 30 days, for abuse and safety monitoring in accordance with their own privacy policies, after which it is deleted.

You are informed of, and agree to, this AI processing during onboarding before using the App, and a notice is also shown on the scan screen. We do not use the App to identify private people, perform face recognition, predict age, gender, ethnicity, or authenticate identity. Avoid uploading photos that contain sensitive personal information unless it is necessary for the sign or symbol explanation.

Information Stored on Your Device

The App may store the following information locally on your device:

• Saved sign and symbol scan reports
• Photos attached to saved history entries
• Notes, favorites, dates, and scan history
• App preferences and onboarding status
• Free scan count, premium status, and related subscription state

You can clear saved symbol history from the App settings when that option is available.

Purchases and Subscriptions

The App may offer premium features such as unlimited AI scans, detailed reports, full history access, reference guides, and sharing. Purchases and subscriptions are processed through Apple and managed with RevenueCat. We do not directly collect or store your full payment card details.

How We Use Information

We use information only to provide and improve requested App features, including:

• Generating AI-assisted sign and symbol reports
• Saving scan history on your device
• Managing free scan limits and premium access
• Providing support when you contact us
• Maintaining App functionality, reliability, and legal compliance

Third-Party Services

The App currently uses:

• OpenRouter: Processes uploaded or captured images and prompts to generate AI-assisted reports, routing them to AI vision models, currently Google Gemini, with OpenAI models as a fallback.
• RevenueCat: Manages subscription status, purchase entitlement, and restore purchase functionality.
• Apple services: Process App Store purchases, subscriptions, camera/photo permissions, and device-level privacy controls.

These providers may process information according to their own privacy policies.

Data Retention

Scan history saved inside the App remains on your device unless you delete it, clear App data, or uninstall the App. Photos sent for AI processing are handled transiently by the AI provider to generate the requested report and are not stored by us; the AI providers may retain request data temporarily, typically up to 30 days, for abuse and safety monitoring under their own policies before deletion. We do not operate a separate server for storing your scan photos.

Children's Privacy

The App is not intended to knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through support contact or App use, please contact us so we can review the concern.
